Tips for Life at Home with Children
Establish a routine.

While raising a child is a challenging and rewarding experience, there are also many challenges associated with working at home. If you're a working parent, here are some tips to make your life as a stay-at-home mom or dad easier. While working at home, be honest about your work-load and set clear expectations with your kids. Make sure you make time to enjoy your children and work around your schedule.
Schedule daily "connect" time.
This can be face-to-face time or other means such as leaving a note in your child's lunch box. Writing positive words on the shared whiteboard, sharing a book, or just talking with your child are all great ways to connect with your child. Every day, make a point to express your love for your child. When you're feeling stressed, make sure to make time for fun activities like reading together, playing games, or watching TV.
Schedule play times.
Children need structure and routine, so plan playtimes around these. Schedule a time for breaks, play times, and even video calls with friends. If your children have friends over, send them over for a play date. They'll be entertained and you'll be able to work! Remember to prepare snacks for them, so that they won't get hungry while playing. Also, keep in mind their sleep schedule.
Establish a routine.
Try to keep your child on a schedule, whether it's a schoolwork schedule, or a daily routine. Even if your child sleeps a lot, try to schedule meetings during their nap times. Schedule work hours around nap times so that your child gets uninterrupted attention. If possible, swap shifts with your partner if you need to go out for work or meet with clients.
Teach your children to be compassionate.
Children learn to be more compassionate when they observe kindness and compassion in others. Even when they do something that doesn't seem like caring, they can help others out and express gratitude. By doing this, they will develop empathy. And the best way to teach that is by practicing daily gratitude. These are only a few of the many tips for Life at Home with children! You can find many other great ways to foster your child's compassion.
De-clutter.
De-clutter your child's room on a quarterly basis. Set a reminder in your calendar and go through their rooms periodically. Kids cannot play with everything, so let them choose their toys wisely. Decluttering their rooms will help them have less stuff and a greater chance to buy better quality items. It will also help you maintain the calmness and patience they need to cope with stress.
Engage in creative play.
Try your hand at crafts or make up activities that your kids can do on their own. Creating art projects with glitter or building a family tree will be fun for the whole family. Make sure to use age-appropriate materials for the projects. Ideally, they should require minimal help from you. Involve them in activities that teach them new skills. If you're a parent, you can even teach them the art of music by letting them play with toys that you have.
